Continuing with the first commandment:
לֹא-יִהְיֶה לְךָ אֱלֹהִים אֲחֵרִים, עַל-פָּנָי.
(lo yeeh'YEH l'KHA eloheem achereem ahl panayee)
לא = no, not
יהיה = there will
לך = to (for) you
אלהים = gods, strong mighty one, hero
אחרים = following, second, other, later, foreign, strange
על = on, upon, over, above, against, after
פני = my face
There will not be for you other, strange gods above my face.
Here, I think of "above" as "higher in status than..."
