We finish our series on the Ten Commandments as written in Sh'mot (Exodus) chapter 20. Today the 10th commandment.
לֹא תַחְמֹד (lo tachMOHD)
לא = no, not In this case, used with the imperfect verb form, it is a permanent command form.
ת = you will
חמד = "desire, covet, long for, take pleasure in"
"You will not covet"
The verse goes on to list many things belonging to one's neighbor, from house and wife to servants and animals. Why don't you look up Shmot 20:13 (it is also pasted at the top of today's blog) and see how many of the words you know that are listed? Have fun!
