Should be no problem to remember the meaning. We can use some letter and vowel mnemonics to remember spelling. For the : ALEPHant. Picture the master riding an elephant. For the qamets, he is drinking tea (qamets looks like an English letter “T”). For the cholem, it is a shepherd's rod, or a hook. So, our master is riding an elephant, while balancing his teacup and using a shepherd's rod to steer the animal.
אדם ah-DAHM: Adam, person, mankind m
Adam is riding HIS ALEPHant, and carrying a cup of tea in each hand. One for him and one for Chava (Eve). He can't steer his animal at all. This way, we can remember that there are two qamets in this word.
