The spelling is identical in the word pair form, however, the emphasis will no longer be on the first syllable. CHE-rev is “sword”, but che-rev-ah-DAHM is “sword of Adam”.
To help us remember spelling and definition, think of this:
“cherev” sounds like: “Cher have”, thus: Sonny and Cher have top hats on as they sword-fight the veterinarian. The top hats remind us that the spelling uses chet, as opposed to khaf, which makes the same sound. The veterinarian is our spelling mnemonic for the letter vet, and NOT vav, which may also make a “v” sound.
